Description
I started wondering what a mobile version of a tracker program ought to look like and I came up with this.
I probably won't or shouldn't try to actually make it (I don't really know much at all about music synthesis) but I wanted to think about the interface.
Hypothetical features:
The top bar lists a bunch of buttons that would either bring up a menu of items or open various dialogs or panels.
You would be able to click the timer by the song title to make that area show the song length / running time instead of title.
Pressing on the Current Order would enter the Order Edit dialog and swiping up and down on the speed / bpm / add fields would adjust them.
View > Pattern
would set the pattern editor to a specific scope to only a single pattern while
View > Order
would return the scope to the progressing orders
Pattern Editor:
Swiping with a single finger would pan up/down/left/right through the tracks, and swiping with two would set selection interval.
After selection a certain section in the pattern editor the piano keys would change to something appropriate to that part you selected.
I couldn't figure out how one would go about selecting instruments and samples in this interface though. They require so much space so I'd like to not always have them in the view, but having them visible would be really necessary to be productive at all.
I called it JellyTracker for various reasons, (even though it's just a concept image...)
One because MilkyTracker reminds me of breakfast which Jelly also does.
Two because the last version of Android was called Jelly Bean.
Three, the main reason, I wanted to draw a jammy solarized theme
